Pros

Very nice office and decent salary.

Cons

It's not rare that people work 12 hour days and sometimes don't take lunch, if they do they run down to the kitchen and quickly warm something up. I have never worked so much without taking a break. In the beginning you think it might just be because of a specific project, but soon you realize that it's the norm. CEO/Founder is micro-managing everything and basically tell you want to say to clients and will correct you in meetings like you're a kid.

A Great Façade

Pros

The clients are good clients who trust the company, the employees are great to work with, and the office is modern and clean.

Cons

The CEO fails to tell you that you will be working 10 hour days, and if you work late (past 7pm all the way to 12am), he will reward you with food at your desk, no overtime reward. The CEO will micro manages you as his daily duties and belittles you to others behind your back. He will also throw money at your face to get you to try and stay, but your sanity and general mental health is not worth it.

The CEO referred to in this post left the company in February 2016. While the positive aspects of the culture remain the negative aspects have gone and we continue to grow and attract great talent that thrives in the positive environment we have created. Agency life is often stressful in terms of tight deadlines and heavy work load at different times. That will never change but we manage it positively and proactively and respect the need for decompression at regular intervals.

Professionalism and trust won't be found here

Pros

As a workplace, people are talented and do work hard together, for the most part, to accomplish daily projects. It is a supportive environment on the day to day level. Communication and project workflow/process is improving.

Cons

The office temperature is set and locked at 78-80 degrees. Meaning there is an actual key lock on the thermostat. That should be your first sign this is not your usual place of business. Upper management is highly involved in the day to operations. To the point where they do not understand the concept of trust. The level micromanagement in this office is the worst I have ever witnessed. Upper management has an unclear vision regarding roles and responsibilities. There is a flat organizational structure across all lower levels of employees. Meaning, everyone overlaps in decision making because everyone knows upper management will have final say. This leads to constricting of ideation. Everyone is afraid to voice their opinions and when they offer strategic examples, upper management just ignores them and in many cases belittles people. This is a clear sign upper management has insecurity issues. The lying and clear conflict of interest in upper management means HR issues will never be dealt with properly within California Law. So now that the operational issues have been highlighted, the company benefits are laughable compared to any other professional opportunity. 3 sick days annually and no personal days is not a reason to consider accepting a position here. And if you do call in sick, upper management immediately second guesses it. Yes, it is honestly that kind of environment. Career advancement is also not supported. Upper management does not believe in a traditional organizational structure, because it will lessen their influence on daily operations.

The management of Audacity changed in February 2016 and since that time all of the issues outlined in this post have been addressed. Audacity has a culture of respect at all levels, hard work, and a lot of fun as evidenced by our weekly lunches, monthly 'chill time' at destinations selected by members of the team, and 'spontaneous acts of kindness" such as popcorn, pizza, cookies, or home baked cakes for the team.
