Pros

- the team when there was one was a great smart group of individuals who worked hard - had an amazing manager who shielded us from much of the chaos - pay and benefits were a line industry benchmarks - decent work-life balance if you have a supportive manager

Cons

- the CEO changes his mind every couple of weeks on the direction of the company and then everyone else scrambles to pivot. He also micromanages down to the specialist level which causes an unnecessary amount of stress and confusion. - none of the numbers presented make sense as it’s based on a “vision” vs the reality of where the company is at cashflow wise - a lot of turnover on all levels especially for leadership who is outspoken on their views - promotions were reserved for those in the inner circle. There were several departments without a single promotion in the 2 years I was there - I was part of the big group of people that got laid off in round #2 in November. It's not the layoff part I'm bitter about - whether I like it or not that’s the reality of working in tech - it's how it was done. It felt incredibly rushed and not at all thought out. After dedicating an entire 2 years to the company I was left with a un personalized mass email letting me know I was impacted. After 10 minutes our computers got shut off and we were left with a booking link to HR if I had questions. For how much your employees gave to the organization that felt incredibly cruel. Additionally, there seemed to be no thought behind it. Entire teams were simply eliminated overnight (exp. the marketing team went from 10+ to 1, IT/ security went from 4 down to 1). There was no sharing of login information, or handoff, nothing.

Pros

You get paid a lot of money to do your job. You get a lot of freedom IF your popular. Lots of cushy benefits

Cons

The company is spending money hand over fist and there is growing concern about the future of the company. I would not accept a job offer here unless they sign a contract promising to keep you certain amount of time. I’ve personally seen people leave very good companies to come work for us to get let go only a few months later after their project is done. It’s ran like high school, popularity is important, and favoritism is prevalent. Senior leadership doesn’t know what they’re doing, the ceo is surrounded by yes men who care more about a paycheck then the life of the company. This is because anybody who challenged the CEO gets fired or punished through other negative measures. You can put makeup on a t@rd and call it pretty but in the end it still a terd. That’s what apprentice is. It looks amazing but when your up close, you realize it stinks.

Smoke & Mirrors

Pros

Great pay. Higher than anywhere else, by a lot. Extravagant events, spending gobs of cash. First class flights, hotel suites. Employees could fly up and stay for a week with zero authorization. Can expense literally anything. CEO founder is a brilliant visionary.

Cons

Where to begin? The brilliant CEO also has no career experience in corporate America, enterprise sales, or software. Every decision is emotional and if you don't agree profusely with everything he says, he'll have an outburst and shut you out for weeks. Check the CEO Approval Rating. His next biggest problem is his cousin as Chief Business Officer, who also has no experience in technology, sales, enterprise, or software. He takes a "used car sales" approach to selling manufacturing software and is disliked not only by employees but by customers as well. The rest of the executive suite is equally poor. Yes-men/yes-women with little career experience. Employees are leaving in droves or being laid off en masse. Most are unhappy; if they stay, it is for the compensation. Unrealistic company goals lead to under-achieving, unhappy employees. Glassdoor reviews are fake - "Cons: None" is a dead giveaway. The "Pros" lead to an obvious burn rate problem. The business plan to raise more money was quashed by the economic downturn, putting the company in a precarious position of not hitting its number.
