Pros

Fair salary Casual friday afternoons Team lunchs

Cons

The CEO who is also the founder of the company decides things based on how long they know the employees. If you drive to work, you are eligible to WFH on a stormy day, but if you use public transportation then you must go to the office.(Somehow, car owners can't commute?) The CEO talks about employees with other employees who is not an HR person. Basically, the CEO tries to control everything. Everything. It is not a professional work environment.

We are very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience working with our company. Compassion and taking care of our employees like family is a core value at our company, employees that have been with the company longer will have certain accesses that others will need to earn. The commuting comment refers to pre-pandemic times and we are now working in a hybrid environment. Before that time, those who were travelling to work via public transport were expected to come to the office, those who drove may have been able to work from home during very specific circumstances (due to bad weather etc) to ensure their safety. We apologize again for the negative experience you had with our company and wish you all the best with your future projects.

Pros

The people who work here are amazing. Everyone might be trauma bonded, but the AS humans are fantastic, lovely and try their best. It is unfortunate the CEO does not trust anyone and makes that clear at work everyday.

Cons

The interview process is a great sales pitch: small team, autonomy, and exciting goals. However, the company doesn't live up to this promise. While it is small, the CEO often exaggerates and micromanages the team, losing focus on revenue growth. In sales, I was frequently called or texted by the CEO, who doubted I was meeting clients and questioned the duration of my meetings. I was also asked to lie to a client, cancelling a meeting due to illness because the CEO did not trust my relationship with the newly won client. Sales is an act of care and nurture, while the CEO sees clients as a means to an end. The CEO insists on physical presence in the office. If you are sick on an office day, remote work is not allowed and you won’t be paid. During snowstorms, you must come to the office without excuses. Even if you feel is it dangerous, he will also have the day be unpaid. Sick days are also unpaid. The CEO even considered installing a punch clock to track attendance, similar to a factory setting. If you work from home, a lack of laptop activity for 20 minutes results in calls and texts, making employees afraid to leave their computers for fear of being labeled low performers. Commission structures are unclear and frequently changed to result in lower payouts, with the CEO claiming misunderstandings. Even if the commission clause is clearly written into your employment agreement, he will change this. If you receive commission, you may be required to sign a clawback agreement, allowing the CEO to withdraw the commission if you are fired or decide to quit, which is illegal according to a lawyer. If you choose to resign, the CEO may pressure you to leave immediately without pay or overload you with menial tasks during your notice period. Additionally, the CEO gossips about employees' personal situations and shares when he is unhappy with others or when someone is on the chopping block, creating a very uncomfortable work environment.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We were genuinely surprised and disappointed by some of the statements made, as they do not fully align with our values or the experiences we strive to create for our team. But as Simon Sinek has often said, “challenges can be catalysts for growth, and we are taking this as an opportunity to reflect and improve”. There are a few things from this review that remain absolutely true. First, we are fortunate to work alongside some truly incredible people, and we are grateful for their contributions and impact every day. Second, we genuinely hope that anyone who feels misaligned with our organization finds a place where they feel empowered and inspired. Trust is a cornerstone of our culture, and it is built when we follow through on our commitments, show up with consistency, and maintain clear communication. To nurture trust, we believe in coaching and supporting team members, especially when challenges arise. In this case, we chose to support the reviewer in multiple ways, believing in their potential, as any organization that values its people would. Like many small and dynamic teams, we have practices in place to strengthen our culture, including asking our team members to come into the office three days a week and to arrive before 10:00 a.m. This helps foster the collaborative and supportive environment we all value so much. We also provide extra vacation time in lieu of designated sick days, as flexibility is essential to us. When required extended leave due to surgery, we offered paid time off beyond their vacation to support them. As a Company, we are always open to constructive feedback, and we acknowledge the communication gap that occurred over a commission payment. We must mention that this was resolved promptly within 48 hours, and, to provide flexibility, we allowed the commission payment to be processed through the individual’s corporation (save significant tax) and later increased their salary to ensure fairness. Transparency and mutual support are at the heart of our company. We share openly to enable team members to step up for each other, whether personally or professionally. Many of our colleagues have been with us for years, and we believe this longevity reflects our commitment to building a supportive workplace. We have always left no stoned unturned to ensure our employee's well being. In such cases, we have gone an extra mile to provide long notice period of 5 weeks to support a smooth transition, despite gaps in meeting certain performance KPIs. We are fully receptive to feedback and we have learned valuable lessons with this review. We wish the reviewer every success and fulfillment in their career. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to reflect and grow.
