I have been working at Altus Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Our local office is well managed, has a good dynamic, and everyone is always willing to teach or help other co-workers. They give you independence from the start with appropriate supervision.

    Cons

Hours can be long during the busy periods. Compensation is very low for first few years and no overtime is paid for additional hours.

    Advice to Management

Pay entry level employes a decent wage.

I have been working at Altus Group full-time

    Pros

    - Excellent compensation
    - Great Vacation allowance/Christmas time off
    - Most coworkers are amazing
    - Good hours/decent benefits

    Cons

    - Upper management is impossible to talk to. They literally just don't respond
    - Barely any training.. was just thrown into it
    - People just up and quit out of no where completely messing up the office environment
    - Management cares more about certain offices than others
    - Appraisers are left with strict deadlines with NO help
    - HR department is a joke

    Advice to Management

Actually respond to your employees concerns. Take care of your employees and do not show favoritism to other offices.

I worked at Altus Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairly good company benefit including above average vacation times allowed

    Cons

Manager in my division was verbally abusive and resulted in extremely high turn over. People were getting picked on by the manager on days for something very small which created toxic work environment.

    Advice to Management

When the middle manager harasses people and become abusive, do something about it! That is what you are there for.

I have been working at Altus Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    * Great vacation time and quick build up to extra weeks
    * Most of the staff are wonderful and friendly in all the offices
    * Competitive Salary after about 5-10 years experience with the company
    * Education and some training/seminars are part or fully paid
    * Work/Life balance is better than some other companies I've worked with
    * Good health benefits
    * There are a lot of career opportunities with the company (partly due to the high turnover)

    Cons

    * Management can be dismissive, verbally abusive and emotionally abusive
    * I have gone to higher up managers in the company and nothing has been done
    * Going through HR would put me at risk as my name would be made public to the manager and I have dealt with years of abuse and know this would not solve anything but make things worse
    * Through conversations with other staff across the country I realize that I'm not alone and that management tends to get away with this behaviour
    * This company has a high turnover, I have watched several colleagues up and leave because of management and pay

    Advice to Management

When someone comes to you and tells you that their manager is treating them less than respectful, listen and do something about it. Don't brush it off as "that's just how that person is" because abuse in no form should ever be acceptable and it is not a "personality trait" that should ever be acceptable in a position of power.

    Pros

Opportunity for career advancement, paid for education advancement, flexible work environment, challenging work

    Cons

Pay is low to start and benefits could be improved. Some managers were great while others lacked management experience or ability to manage effectively. No emotional intelligence training or any training on how to manage people offered. HR was not helpful. High staff turnover.

    Advice to Management

Offer more competitive salary and benefits package
