I worked at Altus Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity for career advancement, paid for education advancement, flexible work environment, challenging work

    Cons

Pay is low to start and benefits could be improved. Some managers were great while others lacked management experience or ability to manage effectively. No emotional intelligence training or any training on how to manage people offered. HR was not helpful. High staff turnover.

    Advice to Management

Offer more competitive salary and benefits package

I have been working at Altus Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company continues to grow - albeit mainly through acquisitions
Canadian HQ for a global publicly listed company
With the constant change and improvement initiatives there are lots of opportunities to do new things in my position
The people on my team are committed to the same goal I am and are pretty good to work with

    Cons

With the constant change it can be difficult to understand where the priorities are at any one time.
The company is evolving, which is a good thing, but the executive team doesn't provide as clear a vision of what the desired future state should be. I'd like more clarity on that.

    Advice to Management

Although I certainly enjoy working here, I am someone that enjoys change/transformation and do ok in ambiguity. However not everyone is like that and you would do well to prioritize communication across the organization.

I have been working at Altus Group full-time

    Pros

Good group of individuals to spend the day with. Easy to get along with colleagues and generate relationships. Work can be interesting at times.

    Cons

Base salary is low. Hours are typically long (depending on division) and no overtime pay. Bonuses/benefits kept to a minimum. No education funding outside of UBC AIC courses (50% funding for outside courses in contract seems to be hit or miss depending on your manager). Growth opportunity & career path for individuals is unclear and rarely discussed. Managements focus geared towards getting more out of employees without mutual consideration; less giving/more taking. Past experience and education seems to be overlooked and not utilized.

    Advice to Management

Growth opportunity & career path for individuals is rarely discussed and it would be great to see more guidance in this area. As a growing company, focus on investing in the development and retention of recent grads and new hires would help retention and moral. Clear picture of where employees are/where they are going would be beneficial. Use employees past experience and education as an asset. Pay competitive salaries; this would be the complaint most frequently heard. Improvement of salary comparability across company should also be reviewed, as I've spoken to many individuals who are receiving less compensation after 2+ years of work than those hired within the last 8 months in the same or similar roles.

Highly dependent on the team/location you're in :

    Cons

Lack of long term vision in some fields

    Salaries should be improved

    Advice to Management

You need to give employee the willing to stay : Need stability in overall structural organization, slightly improve salaries, try to give more insights on long term projects even in small teams. Give participating REER/RRSP
