Few Pros, Way too many Cons

Pros

- you get to meet and work with some really cool and nice people - most of the time, it's really chill - the job itself is really easy once you get the hang of it - the one raise you get after your first 90 days

Cons

- corporate does not listen to their in-store employees or their customers - got rid of the annual raises, which was one of the main incentives of the job - unless you're the store manager or your store doesn't have a store manager, don't expect any decent hours - something is always breaking or needs to be fixed/replaced - corporate refuses to invest more money in better quality props, so they're always breaking - hearing customers complain about how cheap and low effort the rooms are, knowing that we can't do anything about it because corporate doesn't seem to care - the consistent ''mystery phone calls'' to test the employees, as if we didn't know how to do our jobs - almost every piece of technology in the store is outdated or broken, making it difficult to use, especially on busy days - the pay is laughable, especially given the lack of raises - there are supposed to be bonuses that the employees get, but that's only if that store beats revenue from the year prior...which rarely happens - depending on the store you work at, there will be less than 7 people employed there, making weekends and peak seasons harder to manage

Pros

The people that I worked with in store were always great, the job was easy.

Cons

Management is awful and lazy. You are told that there is progression possibilities but there is not, they will lie to you or hide upward movement from you regarding it. The company has no aspiration to it, rarely fixes items that are broken and rarely re-does rooms. Management pushes extremely arbitrary numbers and goals that help the store very little and guilt trips lower level employees without actually providing help to them. The escape rooms are extremely low quality and often leaves customers unhappy, but there is nothing you can do if you are not upper management and sometimes upper management blames you for the state of the rooms. It is obvious that the company has no roadmap and makes it the problem of the entry level workers and not those capable of bringing actual change. This company wishes to sit around and make money, while doing even less than the bare minimum required to have a respectable business. Managers sit around on their phones gossiping with each other nor sticks up for their employees (again circling back to guilt tripping and insulting their own employees), the facilities management rarely gets things fixed (there were holes in the walls and the ceiling that were there the entire 2.5 years I was working there), the financial management is abhorrent (pushing all stores to have a minimum of 5 employees to split 70 hours available to them, won't hire teenagers either for some reason), the design team seems to be restricted to designing printer paper props and sticking them in metal boxes. You will see no viable change throughout the store if you stick around too long, the culture is abysmal, the passion and drive are not there, respect from upper management is nonexistent.

Pros

lot of good people work for this company, friendly hires and lovely coworkers make it an easier time for sure and the people you help are in general kind happy faces

Cons

refusal to upgrade or replace props leaves workers at a huge disadvantage and leaves them at times stranded with angry customers and broken locks aplenty. this along with incredibly frustrating scheduling practices makes for a really draining work environment at times
