Pros
Advanced is hands down the best company I have every worked for. I will not bore you with general statements like "it's the people," or "great work-life balance," (although both are true) rather, I will mention some of reasons as to why I believe Advanced is one of the best companies to be apart of.
1. Questions that managers consistently as their team include "are you having fun" and "do you want to be hear?" At most companies, these questions might as well be rhetorical, however here the managers actually act upon your answer. One of our recruiters answered "no, I dislike acting as the liaison for candidates and clients. I have seem to be doing that a lot more nowadays instead of sourcing for new candidates, which is what I really like doing and is what I'm good at." A couple weeks later, the manager changed their role to a full time sourcer. One other example - turnover is inevitable, and they don't shy away from it. We have had a handful of people who said that they would like to move on, and instead of showing them the door, Advanced asked what kind of job they would prefer, and helped them get hired. Some were placed at the childrens hospital as HR Generalists, and some went on to work for corp clients as recruiters or recruitment analysts. The willingness to help our people is inspiring and shows that Advanced does not consider its people cogs in a human-capital machine.
2. Being on the low-end of the totem pole, I did not have the expectation of being heard by the executives, whether it comes to process changes or technology recommendations. However, after only being here a month, I was able to share my ideas, concerns, and issues with various people (not just my manager) and over time saw these issues being addressed. Also, I was amazed that I was able to get to know some of the hire-ups who actually remembered my name when running into them again in the office or at the office parties. The absence of tier politics adds an element (not to be cheesy, but adds to the narrative that we are a family here) that in turn made me feel very comfortable and happy to be here.
3. The company is growing growing growing and people are being hired and promoted left and right. Definitely not a place were you will hit a dead-end when it comes to upward mobility. (As long as you put in the work!)
Cons
401k plan could be better, however I hear they are planning to make some big improvements to our benefits package, especially now that we have a new CHRO. (Paid for gym membership is definitely coming for 2017!)
