Pros

-The coordinators ak "the staff" are amazing community workers who work tirelessly for their clients and participants. -ACT generally is happy to try new things and depending on the situation is open to trying new things. -Working within sexual health is important

Cons

-The Executive Director, John Maxwell, is an egotistical maniac. -I witnessed a staff be threatened to be laid off in an all-staff zoom meeting, neither the union nor the agency investigated the staff member's claims of harassment. -When announcing the hiring of a new Director of Finance, the ED sent out an email to all staff apologizing for not hiring a Black woman, leaving everyone uncomfortable. -The Board and the ED forced a "equity audit and anti-racism training" on the staff, where they hired a white man with zero experience with anti-racism to conduct this work, everyone on staff felt uncomfortable and every raised issues related to institutional racism that were ignored by management and the Board. -A Board member was found to be abusive to their ex-partner, who worked at ACT, and the ED and the Board decided it was best to keep the Board member and told the staff (who was requested the Board member be removed for their safety) instead make sure they are not onsite when the Board member is. -Staff have no received a wage increase for 15 years, yet the ED received over $7,000 in raises in 2022 (Sunshine List) -you will be tokenized if you are anything other than a white gay man. -Throughout the pandemic and cost of living crisis management has blamed staff for "poor morale" continuously, this has appeared in numerous emails. -Directors would tell staff "there is no culture of job growth at ACT" (despite managers being promoted to directors)

Pros

- Great workplace culture - Great benefits - Great work/life balance - Unionized - Management felt engaged and interested in your well-being

Cons

- Unionized (while I support the union, it did make certain processes difficult internally) - Very little upward mobility - Professional development was limited
