I have been a sales representative with Knowledge First (KFF/previously named USC Education Savings Plans) for 19 years. It has been a great career.
I first heard about the program from a friend who referred me to an agent. They had started plans for their children. We started plans for our 3 year old son right away, both of us knowing the value of an education. When my daughter was born in 1998 I called our agent to come and start a plan for her. When we met we were informed the CESG (Canada Education Savings Grant) had just started and so began a plan for our youngest and applied for the grant for our son.
After the meeting, thinking what a wonderful opportunity this was for young families, I decided to pursue a career with KFF. Offering a plan with secure savings, great interest and the grant (and a great company history) to help pay for their children’s education seemed a wonderful opportunity for both myself and the families I could help.
Working with KFF over the years has allowed me to have a great life, make a great living and be there to raise my children. Having the freedom to set my own schedule I could be home when needed, offer my children many opportunities, attend all the important events and have family vacations (as well as a few perks for myself). Being an agent for KFF gave me the ability to earn the income needed to enjoy these opportunities as well.
My children are now 25 and 20 years old. Both are in the process of earning engineering degrees paid for with KFF RESP’s. Independently and on their own, both of my children have numerous times thanked me for being there and allowing them to grow up with a parent at home. They have both also thanked me for having the foresight to save for their education as they watch their friends struggling financially to educate themselves.
Now I am on my own and working with KFF is still wonderful. I still earn a great living and have the freedom to do as I please. I am not chained to a desk, held captive in an office or tied to a schedule. I look forward to remain doing what I do for years to come (really) because of the lifestyle this career has allowed me to enjoy.
