Description When Sylvan says business is mushrooming, it quite literally is. The company is one of the leading producers of mushroom spawn ("seeds") for growers in more than 60 countries. The company itself is also a major grower of fresh mushrooms in the US. In addition to producing and distributing spawn, the company sells casing inoculum (mushroom-growth accelerator) and supplements for growing mushrooms, including pesticides, fungicides, and disinfectants. The mushrooms are grown at Quincy Farms, Sylvan's Tallahassee, Florida, facility. The company went private in 2004 when it was purchased by Snyder Associated Companies, which operates nearly 10 different companies.
