Automotive Service Technician (Journeyperson) – Full Time – Edmonton, AB
Wrench Pro Reliability Ltd. is looking for an experienced Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician to join our growing team in Edmonton. In this role, you will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a mixed workload of commercial fleet vehicles and retail customer vehicles (cars and light trucks), ensuring safe, reliable operation and high‑quality service. Red Seal endorsement is considered a strong asset and can be supported through additional training.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on cars and light trucks for both fleet and retail customers.
- Diagnose and repair engines, drivetrains, steering, suspension, and brake systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Service and repair electrical, electronic, and vehicle management systems, including starting, charging, and emission control systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrication, tune‑ups) according to manufacturer specifications and fleet maintenance schedules.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, identify safety or reliability concerns, and clearly communicate findings and repair options.
- Road test vehicles when required and verify that repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards.
- Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and parts used on digital work orders and follow internal shop processes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and comply with all safety procedures and regulations.
Required qualifications
- Alberta Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification (or equivalent provincial journeyperson credential).
- Completion of the NAIT Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program or an equivalent recognized apprenticeship program.
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence with a reasonably clean abstract.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Automotive Service Technician, ideally with both fleet and retail work.
- Strong diagnostic skills with modern vehicles and proven experience using scan tools and other diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and consistently deliver high‑quality workmanship in a time‑sensitive environment.
- Eligible to work in Canada and able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal).
- 4th year Automotive Service Technician apprentices with strong diagnostic skills may be considered.
Assets
- Red Seal Automotive Service Technician endorsement (or actively working toward Red Seal).
- Experience with commercial and light‑duty fleet vehicles (service trucks, vans, pickups, etc.).
- Familiarity with shop management software and digital work orders.
Compensation, training, and time off
- Hourly wage range: $40.00 to $50..00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Guaranteed minimum of 37.5 paid hours per week.
- Quarterly performance bonus may be paid based on individual productivity and overall shop performance (including achieving billable‑hour targets).

- Extra training allowance and support toward professional development, including Red Seal certification and other relevant courses.
Schedule and work environment
- Full‑time, permanent position based in Edmonton, Alberta.
- Typical schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, with occasional weekend work as required.
- Field and on‑site work with a mix of scheduled fleet jobs and retail customer repairs.
