Position overview
We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Operations Training Specialist and Curriculum Developer in the Airport Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the specialist will develop course curriculum, plans and deliver practical and theoretical training for YVR employees in the roles of Airport Operations Dispatchers, Terminal Duty Officers, Baggage & Gate Schedules, Emergency Planning, Operations Centre Managers and other airport staff as required. This includes developing training modules that can be delivered in person or online, researching training best practices and incorporating that research, writing, and editing onto lesson plans and training materials.
The role will require ongoing assessment to ensure training is up-to-date and relevant for the changing nature of the operation as well as defining learning objectives and technical skill competency. Additionally, ongoing training needs assessment, incorporating feedback from other business units and continuous program improvements will be required.

While we value flexibility, this role may require occasional shift work to support shadowing and hands-on learning within operational areas. This experience will help the successful candidate build a strong understanding of the roles and subject matter they will be responsible for training.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
