The hiring process at thatgame takes an average of 14 days when considering 3 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Engineering Manager, Backend had the quickest hiring process (on average 14 days), whereas Engineering Manager, Backend roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 14 days).
They have given a deadline for feedback after the feedback, but didnt do it until a message back, then just sent an automatic email that blocks replies. For a company that sells itself as human and caring, that was an awful surprise.

Question 1
How would I handle global aligning with different teams accross the globe
I applied online. I interviewed at thatgame in Feb 2025
Interview
Good first interviews. Very promising.
People started mentioning last interview with CEO. Warning me to be careful. Never got details but it seemed like agreeing with him at all times is mandatory part of job. Interview was the test for that.
Talked about diversity in industry and asked about inclusivity in games. Got defensive answers about players in Asia. Realized most of the employees met and found are asian women and white men. Makes sense for some asian playerbase but there are no women designers on the game. the industry is not that big so I saw who got the job. A brown person like me didn't fit the mold.
Obviously this is not the only factor in the process but it's disappointing with all the other red flags.

Question 1
Why are you interested in thatgamecompany as opposed to other gaming studios?
I had an interview with someone in SLT and he was demeaning and aggressive. It seems like he was looking for total obedience. Would not recommend interviewing at this company.
