      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at mParticle in Jul 2021

      Interview

After initially applying to the company, I heard from a recruiter about a week later. I had a great initial conversation with the recruiter, who was kind and warm. She made the interview very conversational. Then, I got on a call with the hiring manager. It was pretty much rapid fire questions for about 30 minutes, with no option for me to ask questions. However, it was going okay until I mentioned that I was apart of the lgbt community, and I wanted a place that was inclusive and accepting. She immediately clammed up, and it felt like she was just trying to get me off the phone after that. She stuttered something about how she respected that, but it was very lackluster and seemed super forced. After hearing that, she seemed annoyed by everything I said and left no time for me to ask my questions. When I asked if I could ask some, she got very annoyed that I could have questions. I understand that you want to get as much information from me as possible, but an interview goes both ways, especially when trying to decide if you’ll be safe somewhere, or even if you’re a good fit for the role or company. There wasn’t enough time for me to get a feel for any of those things. Got a generic rejection message about 3 days later (which I expected). Guess I got my answer about if I want to work there.
