I had to withdraw my candidacy after the strangest experience I've ever had with a company. After a great interview with the Hiring Manager, I received a bizarre email from the recruiter the next day saying I made it to the next round and how she thought I was "top-notch" and would be great for the role but that they suspected I was using AI to generate real-time responses during my interview because I "paused awkwardly as if I was waiting for an answer to be digested before answering".. Wtf?
This is truly baffling to me, considering I gave extremely DETAILED, specific answers to every question and only paused to think because I'm a human being. It's also a slap in the face considering how she specifically wanted to know about my experience with AI as it related to the role, which I admitted I was fluent in.
Not only was this offensive, but it didn't make a whole lot of sense to accuse me of faking my way through an interview, but still want to move forward with my candidacy.
I can't even imagine what it's like to work here if they're already making you defend your credibility in a first round interview. Don't waste your time.
