      Associate Research Advisor Interview

      Nov 20, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at dscout (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

I had a phone call with the HR manager, then another with a lead of the department. Then I was invited in to meet with two team members. The interactions were all overwhelmingly pleasant, although the process seemed unnecessarily drawn out. The negative review is because following enjoyable personal interactions I received a generic rejection, which greatly hurt my opinion of their treatment of candidates. Also can confirm what others have said, that the office is sorely lacking in racial diversity.

      Associate Research Advisor Interview

      Jun 25, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at dscout (Chicago, IL) in May 2019

      Interview

I had 2 phone interviews to start out the process. The first was with HR, the second with a senior research advisor. Both of these went well . I was then asked to come in for a 3rd interview but as I was not located in-state, we did a google hangout instead. On this interview, I spoke with 2 different research advisors separately & the HR contact that I had been speaking with/scheduling with since day 1. They all seemed pretty confident in my abilities and my fit with the company. They laid out the details of the job, what to expect, when I would start, the salary, and even sent me the benefits package. They said they'd be in touch to schedule an on-site interview (even though I'd need to fly out to Chicago). The language they used was unfair and gave me a false sense of hope. The following week they emailed me what appeared to be a form email telling me they were moving forward with other candidates who better fit their needs. ***TLDR: Altogether, I still think that dscout is a good company but they need to be more professional and transparent in their hiring process and interviews. *** Please be clear with candidates if they are still up against several other candidates rather than leading them to assume they have the job.

      Associate Research Advisor Interview

      Dec 26, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at dscout (Chicago, IL) in Dec 2018

      Interview

Everyone is very genuine and prepared. The process is long, but it didn’t feel unnecessary because you talk to different people each time and do a project. I do think it greatly contributes to the positive culture of dscout. Jim (the solo HR person) is amazing! So communicative and patient. If I hadn’t gotten the job I would’ve still considered it to be one of my best interview experiences.
