I reached out to a current employee of the company on LinkedIn after seeing the ad for the job on another site. I had an interview scheduled in less than a week. First impressions were good.
Arrived on interview day with a portfolio of work samples and a posterboard. Did not see many people smiling or talking which was discouraging. Interviewer was late back from lunch and took a call while I waited to speak with him. After telling him I could write automation programs, use CAD, and build my own testing equipment (posterboard), he said I didn't seem to have much experience. Said I was a "bright guy" and said he has problems with bright people not being able to work. I said I understood the difference between work and school and that I served over 3000 hours at my internship by the time I completed my engineering degree.
After this I was given a tour then an IQ test on a computer and was kindly shown out.
