      Network Community Manager Interview

      Aug 15, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Cape Town
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at YPO (Cape Town) in Apr 2017

      Interview

YPO conducts a very thorough interview process, predominantly via Skype. You'll be interviewed by recruiters and the senior management of your department over the course of a few weeks all of which, in my experience, are incredibly lovely, friendly and personable people focused on understanding both you and your skill set and making you feel comfortable in your role.

I think if you have an exceptional CV the process is not intimidating, just make sure you prepare using some of the review questions that others have put forward and do your best.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at YPO in May 2019

      Interview

Interview process was relatively straight forward. The other reviews noted the process and were spot on. Everything is remote so you don't have to leave the comfort of your home. The downside is that responses are a bit off as the recruiter may email you at 7am so your response could be slower if you don't check email regularly. Interview process works as this: Recruiter > Sr. Network Community Manager> Sr. Network Community Manager (other location)> Senior Business Network Manager The process is very long as I originally applied for a different job but that recruiter noted they wanted someone with more technical experience but thought I was a great fit for a similar job without the technical aspect. It took about 2 month process and had to follow up multiple times. It's not a bad process and the recruiter does offer you feedback each step except on my final interview afterwards I didn't hear back for several weeks. This was disappointing so I figured they found someone. I was correct in that they did. I was told I would be getting another email with more details of feedback but still haven't gotten anything and don't expect too. I would like to make improvements and see why I wasn't selected but I understand how life can be. The only downside is that the job is still listed and now resisted on various sites again. I wanted to list both pros and cons but that is a bit disheartening to invest time for interviews, follow up and such basically every week for the last two months to end here. The company seems cool and mostly the recruiters are more responsive in the process than most so I give them that. Just didn't like the ending but it happens.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at YPO (Cape Town) in Jul 2017

      Interview

The application began with a submission of my CV to the YPO job application portal. The process was easy enough, however the system only informed me two weeks after submission that my application was in fact incomplete. This was the only frustration real frustration during the application process. After submitting my application (properly this time) I was promptly contacted by Tony, the job poster. Tony was amazingly helpful, from initial contact, to the introductory Skype call and follow up emails. He always kept me in the loop and his warm personality gave me a great sense of what YPO was about. I had two more Skype calls with other YPO team members who were friendly and informative. My offer was presented to me within a couple of days of my final interview, and Tony kept me in the loop as I had another offer I needed to respond to. Other than the technical mishap at the start, the application and interview process was pleasant.
