      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wolfspeed (Durham, NC) in Jun 2010

      Interview

Applied through my college career website. Got emailed and told to fill a bio questionnaire. One week later got set up for a technical phone interview. Interview was about an hour long and asked about a plethora of issues from the details of etching to photolithography, etc. Afterwards, I got setup for two other phone technical interviews with other groups. The second like the first was straightforward, concise and polite but the third came across as an arrogant, aggressive and impolite questionnaire. To be honest, I got rather angry with his line of questioning, its like he tries to play mind games with you or bully you. I refrained from showing any frustration, and was glad when the final phone interview ended. I simply crossed Cree from my list and did not really expect a call back. Two days later though, they called me and asked to fly me out to Durham ... I accepted. In hindsight I probably shouldnt have. So I took a day off work and went. The interview itself starts with a 30 minute presentation, and then you speak 1:1 with 5 or 6 engineers lasting approx. 45 min. each. 2 or 3 are nice, "normal" interviewers, the others are incredibly arrogant, rude and rather aggressive interviewers. They will constantly try to put you on the defensive when they should just be trying to fish out answers from you and grading your answers. During lunch dont expect any downtime ... instead you will have 3 or 4 of them constantly firing trick questions at you until fatigue sets in. You will NOT enjoy your lunch. Then the interviews continue after lunch. No downtime. After the first 2-3 hours I got fatigued (my flight only got in at 4 a.m. the night before due to delays) and after a few "wrong" answers and the overly aggressive responses I got from them I decided they probably won't offer me the job anyway, so I sort of tuned out and didnt try as much. I suggest when you interview with them that you get a good nights sleep and stock up on energy drinks and expect an all day epic battle with them. After retrieving all the information they could from me, they refused to divulge anything about ANY thing about their processes or products. The pay they offer is about 55 k for a Process Dev. Eng. .... with a masters! That was even less than what my current position pays. They expect 50-60 hrs work weeks no exceptions. All in all, at the end of the day, I was happy to go back to my hotel for some much needed sleep and to roam around the Raleigh/Durham area. I knew I wouldnt get the offer and frankly if I did, I probably wont acceept.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wolfspeed (Durham, NC) in Jul 2021

      Interview

Long but fair. Started with an HR interview where I was asked standard questions as well as a time where I had to solve a technical problem and the steps I took to do so, then a 2nd phone interview with a manager who was friendly and polite. I was asked a combination of questions from what I am looking for in a job culturally,, behavioral questions, and some very straightforward technical questions pertaining to LEDs and semiconductors. I am preparing for my 3rd interview now and was told to expect 4 total before an offer. All the interviews are still over the phone, none in person. For the 3rd interview I have been asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation on research or a project I have completed and to expect 30 minutes of follow up questions from 3-4 R&D managers.

      Question 1

Pertaining to an internship I'd done, I was asked to explain with some technical details a project I had listed on my resume.

It was a phone interview which took at around 30 mins. First of all, starting with brief introduction of urself then the manager were mainly asking about my previous experience regards to its means of characterization, such as TEM, and SEM. Like how do you scan the sample? basic requirements for a TEM/SEM sample? or things like that.
