      Compliance Specialist Interview

      Sep 25, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wise (London, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Horrific interview by very inexperienced staff. One had worked in pharmaceutical testing and had no prior financial services or compliance experience and the other only one previous job in a junior role at at a previous firm. I have ADHD and the organisations HR team kindly sent questions ahead of interview to accommodate which was greatly appreciated and is a well known accommodating factor that firms offer for candidates who have ADHD. I pre prepared all answers in-line with questions received in advance. However at interview panelists started to ask completely different questions. When I raised that questions were entirely different from pre approved that had been sent in advance by HR, the interviewers stated that they were aware but would be asking different questions. Anyone that has an understanding of ADHD knows that this could likely almost entirely derail an interview when dealing with a non neuro typical candidate, which is something that is easily explained with as little as a brief google search on the subject. I would very much recommend that all ADHD and non neurological typical candidates avoid or closely monitor the interview process with this organisation. If it is widely known that doing something such as changing pre-approved questions at the last minute could likely cause major issue for ADHD or non neuro typical candidates, is this done intentionally by the firm to identify and discard candidates of this type? Very worrying behaviour by a supposedly professional organisation in this day and age!

      Question 1

Surprise last minute change of questions that were different from pre approved version sent for interview.

We're truly sorry to hear about your negative experience during the interview process, especially as we are committed to building an inclusive and accessible environment for all candidates, including those who are neurodivergent. At Wise, DEI is core to our mission and we strive to make every part of our hiring processes inclusive. We have mandatory training for our recruitment and hiring managers, including sessions specifically on neurodiversity, as well as clear guidelines for accommodations to ensure every candidate is supported. We would like to discuss your feedback with you if you feel comfortable to do so, so we can understand better which role and which interview process this was experienced in.
