William Jackson Food Group interview questions

Weirdest interview I have ever had. The woman interviewing me was pleasant enough. But the questions have no relevance to the job you will actually be doing. Why did I take a year out? Why did I decide that Uni? Why that subject? Was it my first choice? What was my other choices? What about my extra curricular activities? How am I involved in them? You basically need to have a reason for everything you have ever done up until this point in your life. You need to look into future problems of the food industry, I knew I hadn't got the job.

They asked very specific 'why' questions about my education choices, and the things I enjoyed the most and least about my work experiences. They didn't seem to pay attention to my answers or consider what I already explained I worked as valid for experience, as they asked the same questions worded differently when I already answered them. They then proceeded to ask me several - in my opinion - eliminatory questions to sift candidates out and half of it felt more like a forced survey. I already know I will not get the job. I don't see how those questions would be relevant for a fresh graduate, who would anyways learn while working there how the industry works and what are their concerns. It sounded to me like they wanted you to sleep, breath and live bread. TOP TIP If you are really keen in joining this scheme, you better stalk these guys intensevely on social media and be up to date with news about them, news and trends concerning the food industry in general, and prepare some personal information on the political impacts on their industry!
