Talked to a senior manager at a SEG student expo, they said they are hiring PhD student bright in Geophysics. Got and interview with the HR half and hour the next day. General personality questions only and some questions on my CV. Then they said they will get back with me later. I emailed the manager for a thanks note. Then they put me on an email trying to fill an online profile to the company hiring website. One and half month later I was emailed to scheduled a phone interview with the training manager. Had it 1 week later, going well with minor technical questions on reflection seismology. 2 weeks later they inform me that they'd fly me to Houston for an on-site interview. We scheduled several times and 3 weeks later I traveled to Houston. There were airport transit with good limo and stayed at Marriot. Flied in a day before and the next day, 6 people interviewed me. Include one junior Geophysicist, two major managers of the particular program I will be in (SIP), 1 recent hired Geophysicist in the program, and two senior personnels. With lunch box at noon and dined with the training manager who interviewed me over phone, most questions are about how I would bridge my academic studies over to the oil exploration services. They repeatedly inform me that this position will need to put me mobile among international offices once the training is done in Houston. I made no objection since I am open to relocation. And the relocation is every 2-3 years which is fine for me.
