Short: Interviewer abruptly cut off interview. Long: I started applying for a financial aid advisor position at the West Coast University Ontario campus. I saved my application with the intention of continuing later, however someone from HR contacted me anyways to schedule a phone interview. I finished my application after setting up the phone appointment; I put 'no' for working Saturdays. I'm of a certain religious faith where I do not work Saturdays, but I am open to every other day. This has never been an issue.
I received a call from a woman in a high up non-campus position. After a few questions, she wanted to schedule a person interview. When the topic of working on Saturdays came up, she seemed lost for words and then refused to continue the interview or schedule the in person appointment she was going to schedule; said they'll let me know. Not even five minutes after the phone interview, I get an email from West Coast University telling me they hired someone else. Ok, I get that you're a for-profit school and like all for-profits you hit admissions hard on the weekends, you want someone on Saturdays, that's fine. But, come on, no one gets hired within 5 minutes. In hindsight, I'm glad it didn't work. When I found out the extremely high tuition of West Coast University, I realized I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I would be putting students into such high debt along with high pressure of students getting private loans. A few weeks later, I got hired at well known non-profit university that respects my schedule, so it all worked out. However, this is the only time I got basically hung up on.
