I applied for a videographer role. The assessment was technically very good, and I also made an extra video to show my motivation. I didn't get an offer because I used a certain shot in my video, which was not perfect in their eyes. I was assessed subjectively based on feelings rather than on competencies. Strange way to hire people.
I interviewed at Wellness Pet Company (South Saint Paul, MN)
Interview
The interview process was fairly standard and included an initial screening interview with the local HRBP, then moved on to VP Ops, facility tour, and then another VP HR interview. All interactions were positive and punctual, questions were standard and open ended. I had great feedback from the recruiter after every interview, however at the end he had mentioned there was something I had said at one point that they did not like and tipped the scales into the other candidates direction.

Question 1

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Wellness Pet Company (Burlington, MA) in May 2025
Interview
I appreciate that the call was quickly scheduled. I was prepared to discuss usual topics of a recruiting call: professional background, experience, skills, as well as role responsibilities, total compensation, etc. However, I was very surprised when the (rather unfriendly) recruiter jumped into asking questions typically asked by a hiring manager. I fumbled badly as I was thrown off, not expecting that line of questioning. Also, she would have ended the call without providing an opportunity for me to ask questions had I not asked.
The experience was awkward and off-putting and unlike any recruiting call over my 20 year career.
This could be one unpleasant, rogue recruiter or perhaps truly represent how Wellness Pet operates; either way, be prepared for a potentially unconventional recruiting call from an unpleasant recruiter.
