I applied online. I interviewed at Volunteers In Asia
Interview
The interview process was, in my opinion, very relaxed. I was interviewed by the Senior Programs Director at the VIA offices on Stanford campus. Questions asked revolved around why I was interested in the position, what I could uniquely contribute to the program, and whether I had any past experience successfully navigating multicultural situations.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Volunteers In Asia (Stanford, CA)
Interview
Two people interviewed me: ALC program director and the VIA summer program director. Asked me to describe what I can bring to the program. The questions were serious, but overall it wasn't a very intensive interview. I didn't prepare, did OK, got an offer. Note: I'm willing to bet most students who interview get offers.
