      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Virta (Denver, CO) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Condescending, disorganized, and disrespectful of Type 1 Diabetics. I was led on for three full months. First I had to do a high school level "dataset assignment" that was stupid busy work, took less than an hour, and was never mentioned again. . After two rounds of phone interviews (Lindsay and the hiring manager) within the same week, I was told that the position DIDN'T EXIST ANYMORE, that they had given it to an applicant from the previous pool of candidates for this position, but that I would be scheduled within a week for final in-person interviews. They said out of courtesy for my time, they would have me come in to evaluate me and then place me on a waiting list until the next opening for this role existed. A month went by, Lindsay didn't reply to an email asking for an update. Six more weeks went by. After 2.5 months, I was asked to come in for in-person interviews because an opening finally existed. Although annoyed at the ghosting and lack of explanation for going MIA other than stupid politics, I was directly told that I, verbatim, was at the top of their list for this position. I don't know why I believed anything they said. I was asked to come in for a "casual conversation about the position" before in-person interviews, that was then rescinded, and I went to in-person interviews to meet with 4 different employees. One of them didn't even show up... One of them (and Lindsay) asked me if I, a type 1 diabetic, had ever tried a low carb diet. This is the absolute most uneducated, stupid, and disrespectful thing to say to a Type 1 diabetic. Not eating carbs doesn't fix type 1, it encourages disordered eating and intrusive thoughts about food, and any type 1 on a keto diet is not fully in ketosis because we consume glucose for low blood sugars. Honestly this was straight up disgusting and I wish I left then. The hiring manager who had originally "loved" me left to go to another company, which I found out when I met the new hiring manager for 20 minutes. He was clearly intimidated by someone older than him who knew way more about diabetes, and was overqualified based on the qualifications on the posting. His ego showed. He couldn't answer half my questions. He walked me out, promising at least 5 times on the way to the lobby to email me with answers to my questions. I never heard from him. Within a few days I got a super generic rejection email from Lindsay.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Basic questions about working in teams, if I had worked for a start-up, and some more questions asking about start-ups. Not a single question about anything on my resume, not even a question asking why I was a good fit for the role. It was very clear they didn't care about intellect. It was weird how much they focused on Virta being a start-up- shouldn't interest and aligned experience be more important than whether or not you've worked for a start-up before?

      Interview

Recruiter building a strong relationship and representation of company. They were very responsive and communication was great. Got through the task assigned with positive feedback, phone screening with manager led to end of the process for me. The call with the manager was pretty good conversation, not sure what was communicated. As usual response of "not moving forward with your app". Just glad that they were quick about the whole thing.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Virta (Denver, CO)

      Interview

I interviewed with Lindsay Schweikert twice for Virta. The first time, I applied to an office administrative assistant position that I was quite overqualified for. After two rounds of interviews, I received an email saying that they decided to pursue an internal candidate. The second time I interviewed for the Clinical Support Specialist. Once again, I was interviewed by Lindsay Schweikert, who immediately recognized my profile from earlier and showed enthusiasm that I decided to apply again for a position at the company. After a quick phone screen interview, I was sent to do a second interview with the hiring manager. The second interview was much shorter than anticipated. After responding to the questions and assuring that I was well qualified and capable of doing the work, the hiring manager told me they would "get back to me". Within a day, I received YET ANOTHER email saying they hired an internal candidate again. So moral of the story, DON'T BOTHER APPLYING IF YOU ARE NOT AN INTERNAL CANDIDATE.
