      Project Manager Interview

      Apr 22, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Durham, NC
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at VeraSci (Durham, NC) in Jun 2018

      Interview

There was no phone interview. My first interview was directly with the President. When I arrived the President was not available. While waiting I was ushered into a room and given a paper based test. I was somewhat surprised, but it mostly focused on your cognitive ability and reconciling two different sheets of data. The data I was reviewing had nothing to do with my field and I was confused as to why I was taking this test in the first place. Additionally, I noticed they had several people packed into offices with no privacy. It was at this moment I knew this was not the right fit. I completed the test, which was moderately difficult, and waited for for the rest of my interview to start. I was told the person interviewing me had an emergency and she would be late. In total I waited 45 minutes before the real portion of the interview began. However, I understand emergencies happen. But, from there it got worse. The entire thing was a mess. The questions were were unclear and non-specific. Very little active listening was used on their part. I could go on. However, I did interview with one of the managers who was very nice and knowledgeable. But, we both did not fully understand what we did in our respective roles. I knew before it even started this was not right for me. Plus, I read all of the negative reviews and from watching the office staff for 45 minutes to an hour I got a good sense of the hostility and organization. In the end, I never heard back and accepted a fantastic role at a different company days later. Pitfall avoided.
