Met in one-on-one session with another member of management because hiring manager was unavailable. What is best, though, is when you're told you're very over-qualified, and clearly demonstrate your understanding of the copmany's values and mission and your alignment with both, only to get rejected (automated response) and be told they went with someone who more closely meets the needs of the position, and when you follow up for help and feedback about what exactly is meant by "needs" so that if the position becomes available again you can work to be better, you are treated poorly by avoidance, both via direct contact and then by only being told there were other candidates and you were not the only one who interviewed. I'd advise staying away from any company that refuses to be helpful to people who are passionate about the company their interviewing for, especially when those behaviors of current employees conflict directly with the values and mission of the company they are representing.
