      Manager Interview

      May 31, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at VIZIO (Irvine, CA) in Feb 2023

      Interview

The process involved several steps. A phone interview, an interview with the hiring manager, interviews with a few team members and an interview with the VP. I got through all rounds and they told me about a week later that they were going with another candidate. I figured that the interview with the VP was what made them go with someone else as everyone else had indicated that I was a great candidate.

      Question 1

Tell me about a time you accomplished something. Tell me about a time you made an error and how you fixed it. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Why Vizio?

      Manager Interview

      Apr 6, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at VIZIO in Jan 2024

      Interview

I did four interviews, and after two months of zero-contact (I messaged my contact multiple times and was ghosted for weeks at a time) was invited on-site. When I arrived, the hiring manager wouldn't talk to me or make eye-contact. We went to a meeting room, and they continued to text/go on their phone the entire time while I attempted to make small talk/ break the awkward silence of sitting in a room with a stranger who seemingly doesn't want to interact with you whatsoever. I'm talking little-to-no eye contact for the first 20 minutes I arrive in the office. After getting chewed out for "using the wrong doorbell" after following the recruiters instructions verbatim, the interviewer then tells me that the person I am supposed to be meeting with refuses to show up. So I've made my way out to their office in-person only to be stood-up, after being stood up for months already. The interviewer realizes he has to fill the next hour with non-consequential questions we've already gone over in the past 4 interviews. I get asked a lot of questions about my personal capabilities and the interviewer seems to be looking for questions he can "catch me" slipping up on - at one point I was asked "how can you prove you actually have the skills listed on your resume" like I'm a dancing bear (despite the fact that the 4 interviews prior we went through my experience multiple times, and reviewed my project contributions and success stories). I felt set up to fail from the moment I walked in the doors - realistically the office environment, cubicles, and people seemed so traditional, bleak, and uninviting that I think I dodged a bullet here.
