Interview
I was contacted by the recruiter two weeks after applying. I skipped the initial screen and was invited to speak with the hiring manager in a Teams meeting. The job was advertised with a salary of $60K and required only two years of customer service experience, which is the number I entered in the application since you can only provide one figure.
At the end of the interview, the manager asked if I was open to a range, and I said I was. She didn’t share the range and instead wanted me to provide a number, then mentioned she would need to check because this was considered an entry-level role. Additionally, she wasn’t sure whether there would be a second round with the Sales Manager.
I didn’t like being invited to interview if the salary was potentially an issue. I also think it’s misleading to list a specific salary in the job posting and then say you’re unsure what it’s supposed to be. It just fell off.

Interview
Met twice with division manager and once with director of sales at the corporate office. The first interview entailed my resume and discussing details on past experience with their product line and with the companies within their customer base. Discussed technical experience and personality skills. The second interview was with the division support staff that provided quotes and other documentation for the outside sales team. Then they gave a tour of the facility and showed their capabilities and discussed how other divisions would support sales with their capabilities as well. The final interview was with the director of sales at the corporate office. He had very few additional questions but simply discussed the company in general.
