I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at US Postal Service (Raleigh, NC) in Aug 2014
Interview
I applied online 08/13. I got an email immediately to take the personality test. I got an email immediately after that to schedule my 473 exam. You have to take the 473 exam within a week of the personality test. I took the 473 on 08/18 and after I finished I got to my car and had an email saying I scored 84.8 with the personality test and 473 test combined. I have a 5 point Veteran's preference so I had a 89.8 taking that into account. On 08/26 I got an email saying I had an interview at 9am on 08/28. I went to the "interview" this morning. It was me along with 2 other people at the interview. We sat in a small conference room while the HR person and the Postmaster explained the job and the culture in detail. They told us everything good and bad and then asked if they had scared any of us away. The HR lady took us out in the hall one at a time for our personal interview. Honestly, she didn't ask me a single question. We got in the hall, she said she got "good vibes" from all 3 of us in the room and she's recommending us all for the job. She must have a good sense of vibes because in the 3 hours we were in the conference room, I think I only spoke one time. She then told me she would recommend me to start looking into going down the path of becoming a "203b" which at this point the only thing I know about that is it's some kind of management position, but you have to have somewhat of an idea of what's going on in the post office before you can do that. She sent me on my way, said I would get an email for a drug test and an email for a background check. She said they have 30 days to complete that stuff but it's normally done within a week.

Easy I just sat down with the post master and we talked for 20 minutes. Not many questions where asked besides why I wanted to work for the post office.
