      Shipbuilding Manager Interview

      Jan 25, 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at US Navy (Washington, DC) in Aug 2009

      Interview

I was contacted by a senior leader who needed to fill a position which was coming open. He originated the discussion as "let's talk about your future". I was not actively looking for my next poistion. He asked me to get on his calendar and come see him. I did so, where he said that he had some critical job openings that he needed to fill and he wanted to see if I would be interested. I am a senior military officer (Navy Captain @ 25 years of service), and this leader knew me well. I worked for him in the past, and we work in the same large organization - so he knows of my work on a regular basis. The conversation was fairly informal, discussing work I've done in my current position and my future plans. He narrowed the focus toward a field command position that would require me to move.
