      Senior Program Manager Interview

      Aug 16, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Turn 10 Studios (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2022

      Interview

The Recruiter reached out to perform a quick phone screen, then moved me onto a phone screen with the Hiring Manager. I asked for the Recruiter to confirm whether or not the call would be on video, and she said she would let me know if it was going to be video. She didn't call - it was video. After my call with the Hiring Manager, I was moved onto a series of interviews with other Stakeholders. Those interviews were great! They were so great that, the next Wednesday, I was contacted by the Scheduler because they wanted me to meet with the Forza GM on Friday morning. Friday morning rolls around, and I get ready. I look great. I worked with my husband to make sure our infant twins were in his office so I could focus on the interview - everything is awesome. Then I sit on the Teams meeting for 20 minutes, by myself. I email the Recruiter and let them know the GM hasn't arrived yet (no sweat, he's a busy guy, I can wait. But did I get the time wrong? No, I didn't get it wrong. I checked a bajillion times before joining the meeting.) Then I get an email from the Recruiter - "Oh no my apologies! I was supposed to follow up with you. The GM won’t be making todays call. Are you free to chat at 2pm?" Okay, cool. I hop on a call with the Recruiter at 2pm. "I'm sorry. I was supposed to call and cancel this yesterday, but there were a lot of fires. We've decided to hire someone internal." The apology is nonchalant, in my opinion. To be clear, as a Recruiter, there are no "fires" that can be considered an excuse when forgetting to reach out to a Candidate. I had to move around a lot of things for the interview. I had to block time off of my calendar at work; I had to make sure my 3 month old babies weren't in the room where they could interrupt a call. Overall, it was not a great experience, and it soured my impression of Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios for life.
