      Software Developer Interview

      Aug 27, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Turbulent

      Interview

I know a couple of developers from my work history who applied for a position at this company. I also applied. Right off the bat they are not communicative, the recruitment process is also slow and unstructured. Assuming you receive a message back, then following a short technical challenge you are offered an interview. If this goes well you will receive a second interview this time with a project manager however in the interim there will be no communication again and there is a wait during which you don't know what's happening. It seemed like the technical challenge was reviewed was quite quickly. But there's some other bottle neck in the recruitment process which ultimately makes it take more than a month. Assuming this interview goes well you will receive a third and final interview with some of the devs you'll be working with. However in my case this never happened as all communication ceased. Sent an email asking for feedback but they just ignored me. A few other developers are being ghosted. It's really just rude honestly and they put a certain emphasis on you being nice, so it's hypocritical. I don't mind if I get the job or don't get the job, I'd just like for the experience not to be so much like a black hole. I'd also like it if they focused more on technical proficiency as I think that is a sustainable path that would be a benefit to the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They want to find out about your personality and whether you'd be a good fit socially within the team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recruitment experience with us. We are pleased that you showed interest in a position at Turbulent. However, we are truly sorry to read that you had a bad experience during the hiring process and that, in some respects, we did not live up to your expectations after you applied to the company. We definitely understand how important it is for candidates to be kept informed during the hiring process and we are normally quite thorough about ensuring this happens. However, you are correct in assuming that there is a bottleneck at the moment due to the quantity of candidates applying as we continue to expand. Your comment brought to light our need to improve this aspect. As a result, we are getting more help as of next week, which should enable us to provide a better experience on the whole. We are proud to have built a great place to work and are eager to share this from the very beginning.
