I had an initial interview with the store manager that went well. Then a couple weeks later I had a second interview with the district manager, that I also thought went well. After my second interview the district manager had one of the assistant managers show me around and give me an idea about how things run and an opportunity to ask questions and kind of shadow him a bit. In all I was there almost two hours and they were all warm and professional. I had a good impression of Total Wine until I never received any communication after the second interview. No phone call, no text, not even a generic rejection email to say they had gone with another candidate. It was really disappointing because I had a positive view of the company after the interviews, and also didn't have the opportunity to ask where I could improve. It reveals poor process management and just diminished their company in my eyes, when they could have easily maintained my good feeling towards their company by treating me with a bit more respect and professionalism by at least closing the loop.
I think every company should understand that this behavior is not only unprofessional, it's unkind and can leave a person feeling personally rejected rather than simply professionally rejected.
