      Senior Salesforce Developer Interview

      Aug 24, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Toptal (New York, NY) in Aug 2021

      Interview

The interview starts with the senior Recruiter, which at the beginning seems to be very polite and nice during the process, She also asked if I'm taking a vacation any time soon and I told her that in 2 weeks from that day (before starting with them in case I get to accept to work for Toptal and all interviews go well). The interview is recorded (all interviews) but when the recruiter asks about salary expectations She stoped the recording. I told her that I didn't have any salary expectations but then She insists that if I don't give her a number I won't be able to continue the process. So after a couple of days She schedule another interview to give me some possible numbers (after I ask for a salary range for the budget). After hearing the numbers, I mentioned that those numbers are "inside the ballpark". She then replied that to set my salary expectation in a specific number and I said no because I don't want to commit to a specific number yet (I don't like to give salary expectations numbers so early in the process and make it easy for the company to make a deal, I prefer to focus on the added value I can provide to the company). In the technical interview, I met 2 salesforce devs, who seem to be very nice persons and colleagues, they asked about me and my previous experience and then they asked me to solve a coding challenge which in their own words I nailed. The next day I received an email from a recruitment coordinator to schedule a new call because I go to next step. I scheduled to next day after receiving the email (because the next week I was going on vacation), but then the coordinator told me that the interviewers are booked for that day, to schedule for next Monday at a specific time. I mentioned her that specific week I was on vacation and couldn't give her a time for the day, so I asked her to send me a reminder (which she sents a day before the interviews) to send her a free slot. Then the recruiter replied with a very rude email, saying that the coordinators don't send reminders, and She will let to know to the interviewers that I won't be scheduling the call and if I'm interested to send her an email when I come back if the position stills open. After a couple of days, I receive an email from the recruiter saying that the process has ended and "they" decided to go for another candidate (pretty sure that "they" is she). My conclusion is that I never put it easy for the recruiter to make a deal at the beginning, so I was disqualified from the process not for my technical skills, but because of the recruiter's decision. The very bad taste of mount that this company leaves on me, the desition should be on the technical side and Hiring Managers, no recruiters if you need qualified candidates, you could be losing good future employees that provide added value to the company just because of the Recruiters mood, totally unprofessional, don't recommend waisting time with this company

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Solve a class method (Technical interview) Salary expectations (from the recruiter's perspective this is so important that they're willing to let go of qualified candidates if they don't make it easy to deal with them, careful companies like this because it means they're searching for a bargain out of technical skills)
