      DevOps Consultant Interview

      Jan 15, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Thoughtworks in Nov 2024

      Interview

I had a technical pairing interview where they gave me a simple project based on terraform and initially they scheduled the pairing interview, but the night before the interview, I got an email that the interviewer is not available and they rescheduled it after 2 days. I did the assessment and I answered all the questions and the interviewer mentioned I will get an update from the recruiter. After 2 weeks I got an update from the recruiter saying that I passed the pairing interview and they would like to go ahead for the. next rounds but he said the position has been filled and they do not have any other positions right now. But he wanted me to attend the next round and then I will be in a 'Ready to Hire' situation where he can offer me a job immediately when a position opens up. I agreed to that and was waiting for the interview invite. Its been more than a month and till now I have been emailing the recruiter about the status but I never get any response from him. THIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I took time and finished the assessment you gave me I spent time talking to the interviewer and answering all the questions, and the recruiter mentioned I have passed the pairing interview but the position is closed. Now ghosting me is very unethical. It is your responsibility to keep me updated. Overall I had a really bad experience with thought works interview process.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Hamburg) in Mar 2022

      Interview

It was a 4 round process. 1. Technical discussion - in-depth questions on scaling and designing of solution using Kubernetes/helm etc. 2. Take home infra assignment (1 week given and can be extended on request) 4. Social culture fit 3. Assignment review/system design/scenario-based interview with a developer and fellow consultant Overall ok experience. The last round experience was bad. The consultant who interviewed seemed inexperienced, narrow visioned, not to forget was unclear about what the question they wanted to ask. The same consultant reviews your assignment. In my case consultant hardly had a look at the submission. After the last round, I got feedback that they found that I did not showcase a deeper understanding of designing and scaling infrastructure which was a lame reason given the fact that in every round they asked questions about scaling and design. If I was no good then why waste my time until the last round to reject.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

infra problem how would to scalable an infra with multi env? design system architecture of infra assignment how will you test your infra? when to prefer kubernetes and when not?

      DevOps Consultant Interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Pimpri-Chinchwad) in May 2019

      Interview

If you wish to spend your 50 odd hours, then apply on their portal. I have been contacted by HR and given an assignment, i spent 16-18 hours and completed the assignment. The interview panel had no idea about how DevOps works. They started questioning some weired questions. I asked lot of questions to them during the interview, but they could answer none of it. They are far behind real world devops practises. They rejected because they literally wanted a person who can ask questions to client. It was purely 70% consulting and 30% technical job.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

I have .Net application, can i run it on containers.
      Answer question

      Question 2

Why to use containers rather than running every service on virtual machine
