I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (San Diego, CA) in Nov 2014
Interview
Applied online, then got a call back several weeks later to come in for an interview. I interviewed with 2 individuals at once, and received a call a week or more later. The interviewers were very laid back and it was more like having a personal conversation with acquaintances. Because it was mid construction of the new building, the interview was held in an old room in an older, run down facility with a few chairs. (The new building is beautiful and interviews they hold now I'm sure are much more professional, since there is more of a corporate feel now)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Very typical, strengths and weaknesses, times I had to deal with a conflict, our Y is in a very diverse area so they asked some questions basically trying to find out if I was accepting of all backgrounds.
I applied online. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Providence, RI)
Interview
The employer reviewed my resume, asked me questions about my job experience-- was I comfortable answering phone calls, juggling multiple things at once, etc? And how would I handle a difficult or dissatisfied customer?
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you handle a difficult/dissatisfied customer or community member?
Casual. Friendly. Asked about availability and why I wanted to work there. Probably depends a lot on the manager and the position. Come prepared and know the mission of the Y
The people were very chill about the interview and the atmosphere. Asked basic question you would expect on past experience. Lasted 30 minutes max. Ended up with the job after interviewing here.
