I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Sacramento, CA) in Sep 2021
Interview
Fitness Manager contacted me, had a zoom meeting where he wanted to move forward, week later toured gym, week later did a personal training demo, then he told me to get a background check done, and then he told me he was still thinking about maybe hiring me. A week later he told me they went a different direction. Low key leading me on to a point where I turned down another offer because they indicated they would hire me. WAY TOO SLOW of a process, and they did not have any organization. Wanted me to pay for my own background check.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Woburn, MA) in Nov 2025
Interview
It was really straightforward and quick. Had a phone screen and then invited in for an in person interview. Team was helpful and responsive, although offer process has been a little slower but I was told that might happen especially this time of year.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Durham, NC) in Aug 2024
Interview
The manager reached out to me, and I was given both a phone call and a Zoom meeting. The conversations were very easy-going, and my previous experience was respected as part of the hiring process. There was no mock personal training session required; I have experience with this elsewhere, and felt it was artificial, so I was happy that it was not required.
The first round was a talk with the manager, and then they wanted me to show they a strength training class. Also, we went through some basic Information about my certification.
