I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Music Circle (Singapore) in Jan 2024
Interview
I applied for a music teacher position recently. In most of the music institutions where I've applied previously, the interview process has been fairly straightforward: a meeting with HR or the person in charge, followed by playing a piano piece on the spot.
However, this particular place requested a video submission demonstrating how I teach. To be honest, I find this request quite unusual. It's akin to asking designers to create designs before being hired or asking a chef to cook without any assurance of employment. While I understand the importance of hiring the right candidate, isn't that what interviews and probation periods are for? There are already two layers of screening in place.
Personally, I found this requirement off-putting and chose not to respond to their request.
