      Director of Partnerships Interview

      Jun 14, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at The 19th (Austin, TX) in Mar 2021

      Interview

This process was one of the more negative ones I've encountered in many years in the media biz. -First of all, it was an extremely long process... it took ~6+ months overall from when I applied to when I heard I didn't get it (had long ago accepted another position, in fact was on the verge of doing so when I got the notification about first interview which itself was super far from when I had applied, I think 2-3 months after) -Communication and organization seemed poor -Finally, the interview itself was also a bit off-putting. Interviewer interrupted me a couple times and also just seemed strangely negative and sort of put me on the defensive - I'm used to first interviews being way more positive and the interviewer doing a bit of selling, which didn't happen at all! I am a big fan of the 19th's mission and journalism, so I hope my experience was an exception and typical of how they run their interviews or hiring processes!
