I had a 30-45 minute Zoom interview with an analyst and hiring manager. The interview itself was pleasant, and both interviewers were friendly and professional. However, my experience with the post-interview communication left much to be desired.
I was told I would hear back within a couple of weeks regarding the next steps, which if I were to make it, would be an on-site interview. After nearly 3 weeks without any update, I reached out and was informed that they were still in the process of making decisions—understandable at that point. However, this pattern continued: I followed up again a few weeks later and was told to expect an update the following month. After 3.5 months I was informed by automated email that they had decided to move forward with another candidate.
While I understand that hiring decisions can take time, I found the lack of proactive communication and the consistent delays unprofessional, especially coming from such a well-respected organization. It would have been appreciated if they had been more transparent about the timeline or changes in their hiring process. Professional courtesy should be a two-way street, and unfortunately, my experience here fell short in that regard.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Texas A&M Foundation (College Station, TX) in Nov 2022
Interview
The interview process consisted of a screening interview, a virtual interview with the CIO, then a virtual interview with the team. I've interviewed with over two dozen firms, and met with a dozen investment teams over the last year, and this investment team was by far the most impressive. The entire team had thoughtful interview questions and provided solid responses to questions I had as a candidate. I missed an extraordinary opportunity on this one! The interview process felt objective and fair. I would highly recommend any candidate pursue roles at the Foundation looking for an elite team.
