I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tennessee State Museum in May 2021
Interview
The interview was a three-part process beginning with a written questionnaire and writing an exhibit label based on something in the museum collection. This part took me about 2 hours to fully complete.
Then there were 2 interviews via Microsoft Teams. The first included several interviewers who asked rapid fire questions, so it did not feel warm or conversational. The questions were more situational and behavioral than skills-based. They got back to me quickly and scheduled a final round interview which was more conversational.

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Tennessee State Museum
Interview
I applied online. I was sent a six-question quiz to fill out for the first interview. I was invited to a video call for the second interview with a panel. Most of the questions asked at the panel did not relate to curatorial work or my experience and instead were about conservation and collections management (both of which were not listed as part of the curator's role).
At the end of the interview, they said they would let all applicants know their decision in one to two weeks. They started deliberating my lack of experience in front of me before they hung up the video call. They did not update me on the status of my application even after I emailed them to ask.
