Managing Editor emailed and set up an interview. He called and we had a lengthy phone interview; more than an hour. I had a list of question I asked him about the job. He described the job and asked some questions about my reporting experience, namely what beats I had worked and how I covered them. I asked about the editing process and hours. We discussed salary as well.

He told me about the job. He asked me if I considered myself a writer first and foremost.
I had a list of questions for him. I asked about the job hours. After I began working, I discovered neither the hours nor the job was what he had described.He said the job would be 40 hours a week and most of the stories were wrapped up by about 6 pm. In reality, the job was non-stop, more than 40 hours a week. Unpaid hours. I discovered from fellow coworkers that the editor had also given incorrect information about the job to former employees, who had found other jobs and left.
