I was approached by an Account Executive on Linkedin, all in all the process took around 2 weeks, first with a quick introductory phone conversation, then a written exercise and verbal pitch via voicemail. Following these were four back to back interviews, with four different current employees, which were held through Skype as I was not living in California at the time that my interviews were to take place (usually these interviews are on site).

Quick Phone screen, written questionnaire, longer phone screen, in person, happy hour. Written portion was great. In my opinion, this is a better way to get a sense of a person than a high pressure phone call or interaction.
