      Field Service Engineer Interview

      Jun 16, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TRUMPF in Feb 2021

      Interview

The interview began with an presentation about the company and basic compensation about a position. It also goes into the Trumpf's FSE six week training plan (four weeks in CT with two weeks at a customer's site). You find out what product line you will work on while you are in training. I went into the interview thinking I was going to service the Trubend models due to noticing the presenter was the Bend Supervisor when I got the link to the meeting. So, I studied the Trubend models. I was also unaware that others in the virtual room were there for interviews. I thought they were there to interview me also. I foolishly gave them a greeting and introduced myself. Everyone was in t-shirts to include the presenter. The actual interview was fairly easy and laid back. Technical questions were very basic. In my head I thought "...is this serious?" I did goof up three questions due to them being so easy about basic circuits. Personal questions were the run of the mill.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"What are two types of voltage?" "Please identify components on this schematic." "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" "What do you not like about your current job?" "What is your definition of customer service?" "Are you willing to travel anywhere?"

      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at TRUMPF (New York, NY)

      Interview

I was initially contacted by Trumpf's talent acquisition specialist. After a phone interview with that person. I had another phone interview with the HR representative. HR sent me an assessment test to take. Some of the questions, in the assessment test, reminded me that I should have taken a home economics class in high school. The original job, that I had applied for was no longer listed, but I still continued with the hiring process. Anyway, everything went well until I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager was very condescending. I guess that it didn't help that I should have prepared more. The hiring manager tripped me up more than an uneven carpet inside a Fun House! After feeling extremely humiliated, I decided to tap out. After the disastrous interview, I've decided to avoid any future contact with Trumpf, or with any manufacturers of CNC machines.
