      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TRL (Crowthorne, England) in Feb 2020

      Interview

3 part process starting with online application, then ~20 min phone interview mainly focused on motivation, and finally an assessment day. The assessment day had ~15-20 people and consisted of a written exercise, a group exercise, and a one-on-one interview. They were very accommodating of any requirements on the day. The group exercise split the candidates into two and had each group build a tower to meet certain conditions. There was a lot of people observing the group exercise. One girl accidentally knocked our tower over and the HR staff member in charge of the assessment day jokingly called her out in front of the whole room of 30+ people. It was definitely a joke but she looked really embarrassed and kept saying sorry to the group and seemed quite nervous after that so I felt it wasn't very fair on her. The written exercise was a hand written essay type format about a transport issue (I don't remember what exactly) - I think you had 45 mins. The one-on-one interview asked the same set of questions to everyone, some competency and some technical. There was a second assessment day a few days after ours and shortly after I heard whether I had received an offer or not. They said I had answered the interview questions well and my skills and experience was fine but that I talked too much and had too big a personality particularly for the group I had applied for (Data Science) - I found this really upsetting feedback and it really knocked my confidence hence why I marked it as a negative experience. On another note if you are looking to buy a house, the graduate salary is not high enough for that area.

      Question 1

      1. How would you test an electric car from being a factory product to road ready? 2. How would you deal with a client who disagreed with your recommendation?
      Answer question

I applied online. I interviewed at TRL in Jun 2022

      Interview

Great process. First phone then assessment day based interview. Assessment day is generally in person. People are friendly and experienced in their related areas. A team working game is included during assessment, where they let you play some sort of brick tower building.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TRL (Wokingham, England) in May 2016

      Interview

A phone interview with HR who kept asking me to send some pieces of work (reports) that I wrote during my studies to forward it to the manager before inviting me to an interview. Then I was invited to a face-to-face interview with two managers who were very welcoming. They seemed nice but they kept throwing indirect question to see the implications behind my answers. After that I received a phone call from HR to ask me again to send further reports that I wrote during my studies as they are not too sure yet, then they only got back to me after a week to tell me sorry they will pass and I didn't get a response when I asked about the real reason behind this. Very unprofessional and should have assessed my technical skills during my interview and not asking me to send them papers before and after the interview.
