      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (Castro Valley, CA) in Mar 2019

      Interview

I didn't think I was going to be considered for the role but got a phone call the following week after applying. One of the points on their flyer says, "Professional appearance". I totally bring that! but when I had arrived the workers look nothing like I had envisioned. The workers looks like sweatshop and even management with their jeans, athletic shoes, and weatherproof jackets. I don't know maybe it's this location. She told me to fill out an application in the front of the store and talked to me like I had worked there. Then asked me to tell the cashier when I'm done to call management. I don't know if they knew but all this wasn't a good idea since the cashiers were already busy helping customers. They should have handled the situation themselves instead of escalating it to the cashiers. Also, they have my application on their computer when they saw it online. I was patience with them and had followed through with the process. I finally had reached management and they were not doing anything besides being on the computer, checking their email accounts, and etc. They saw me and immediately didn't like me so the interview wasn't going great either. All in the same day I knew I wasn't moving forward. I'm interested and have the experience but for some reason they don't want to hire me. TL;DR: Don't waste your time. They were unprofessional and unfriendly. Even though they saw my resume, they had asked me to fill out an application. The application is a waste of time, it asks what you can find on the resume. I had mentioned earlier it wasn't a good idea because when I was waiting for management, two customers saw me sitting there and decided to sit right next to me when there is no room for three, which made me give up my seat. They made me jump through hoops to finally get an interview. Then, management is a young lady who tries really hard to speak nicely but it's obvious she is insincere. She wasted my time with the application, listing my work history, not even look at it, and low ball me with the starting wage, $12.50, which is below minimum wage. Well, what can I say, it must suck to work there.

I applied online. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (New York, NY) in Jan 2022

      Interview

The interview process was simple, they asked more about leadership and merchandising skills. Make sure to ask questions too to show you have negotiation skills because they look for that.

I applied online. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (Oakridge, TN) in Dec 2021

      Interview

It wasn’t a long process. It was just awkward to have two management staring at you. You stood at the door till someone came and got you. They brought you to their office and closed the door. Then they asked how you were doing then started the questions once you have sat down.

      Question 1

Some of the questions are why are you interested in working here? What are your plans with working here? How much do you plan on working and your availability? How much do you expect to get an hour? Why did you leave your last job? Were you vaccinated? Why did you choose TJ MAXX? Etc…

      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2020

      Interview

The interview was basic, with all of the expected questions but it felt really rushed and the interviewer was trying to get me to interview for a different position than what I applied for. After I said I wasn't interested they continued to try to persuade me to interview for a sales associate position instead. Then wanted to schedule a second interview the following day with me for Saturday evening.
