      Head of NY Production Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TARISIO AUCTIONS (New York, NY) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Recently, I was contacted by Tarisio's recruiting firm (separate review coming) at the end of February. I didn't feel I was the right fit for the job, so I delayed responding. A month later, an exec from Tarisio reached out to me about the same position, so I scheduled an interview with the recruiter mid-April. The interview went well, and I was told they were "hiring immediately" and that most likely someone would be hired by the end of May. After checking in a couple of times, I was told they were holding all interviews until after May 1st. There was no availability until the end of May. This interview was also very positive. It felt very conversational, and I was told they were "hiring immediately" and that I was getting passed onto the next round of interviews. So, we are now 3 months out from the initial message from the recruiting firm. I was not able to schedule the next interview for another two weeks. This interview was also positive. It felt very much like a brainstorming session. I was told they were "hiring immediately," and that I was being passed to the Executive Director for, potentially, the last interview. After waiting for over two weeks, I received an email from the recruiter informing me that they decided to pull the plug on the search to "reassess the role" and to potentially "restructure the company." In a tough job market, especially for anything arts adjacent, to drag candidates through a 4 month process, just to pull the rug out from under them is reprehensible, insulting, and professionally tone deaf. Don't waste your time.
