      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Dec 20, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Supernova Technology (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2024

      Interview

The worst interview experience I’ve ever had in my career. This company’s entire hiring process is not only inefficient but also a blatant waste of time, culminating in a final round that showed zero respect for candidates. Six rounds of interviews: 1.HR screening, 2.online assessments, 3.VO(share screen online coding to solve some algo problems), 4-6.technical rounds ( 3 persons * 45 mins), and a final CEO interview—dragged on for over a month. Are you FAANG? No, you are not! For a company of your scale, such a lengthy process is laughable and absurd. The CEO’s interview is the deciding factor, yet you schedule it last. If your CEO has the absolute authority to reject candidates based on subjective opinions, why not make it the first round? At least this way, you won’t waste everyone’s time. The CEO’s attitude during the interview was nothing short of arrogant and disrespectful. He spoke in a commanding tone, with no trace of politeness or professionalism. It wasn’t a conversation—it was a one-sided interrogation. He provided zero insights about the role or the company, nor did he give me a chance to ask questions. After grilling me for a few minutes, especially about my education background, the interview abruptly ended. This felt more like an insult than a professional discussion. Utter Disregard for Candidates’ Time Over six rounds of interviews spanning more than a month, only to be rejected after a 5-minute, half-hearted CEO interview? This is beyond ridiculous—it’s infuriating. The entire process reflects an alarming lack of respect for candidates’ time and effort. Most of the interviewers I met during the interview process were very nice. Only the CEO interview in the final round didn't make me feel polite and respectful. I had noticed in the comments before the interviews that people had said they got to the final round and were rejected, I didn't expect it to happen to me as well, but I definitely won't be the last. For those of you who are planning to apply you guys need think carefully. I think if a company feels that a candidate doesn't meet their requirements, they should reject them early, rather than wasting everyone's time by delaying until the final round and having to be “interrogated” and insulted by the CEO before rejecting them.
