      Software Engineer Interview

      May 17, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Stride Consulting (New York, NY) in Feb 2022

      Interview

VERY thoughtful interview process. First they sent out a description of the app you'll be working on live along with the functionality they want you to add to it. During the interview, they gave me 30 minutes to go over the app to identify all its working parts, then we spent the remainder of the time pair programming our way through it. After that I reconnected with the recruiter to touch bases, then I connected with a different employee to go over an app I built. I felt like a human through the whole process!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A large part of it was systems design using test-driven development.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Stride Consulting

      Interview

They gave me a take home coding test, I submitted it and received zero useful feedback. It was a generic response that they decided not to move forward and told me I could reapply in X months if I wanted to. Kind of a waste of time since I was hoping to at least get some useful feedback out of it.

      Software Engineer Interview

      Oct 31, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stride Consulting (New York, NY)

      Interview

First there was a pretty typical phone screen. Then there were two take-home assignments: one was a brief coding quiz, the other was a more involved code test which involved designing a small application. (Test-driven development was especially important here). Lastly, there was an all-day onsite interview consisting of a pair programming session, a behavioral interview, an informal lunch with a Stride employee, and an "architecture" interview (which was not nearly as scary as it might sound - it was more of an in-depth discussion of real-world software design decisions I'd made in my career). At the end of the day I received a job offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Discuss tradeoffs you've made when architecting a piece of software.
